There’s no annual fee, and eligibility checks don’t impact your credit score. If approved, PayPal Credit is available in the PayPal wallet via a virtual card, with the option to request a physical card.

PayPal is basically the middleman that made online payments easy before "online payments" were even normal. Universal: If a site takes online payments, there’s like a 90% chance it takes PayPal. No need to re-enter card details every time. Buyer protection: Bought something that never showed up or wasn’t as described? PayPal can step in and refund you. That’s why people trust it for eBay, Etsy, and random small shops. Speed: Sending money to friends, family, or freelancers is instant if they have PayPal. No bank transfer waiting times. Security: Merchants never see your actual card or bank number. PayPal handles the payment, so less risk of your card getting leaked. It’s not perfect - fees can sting for businesses, and account holds can be annoying. But for most people, it’s the "safe button" for buying and selling online. Reviewed on: 11th May 2026
