I use policy in practice daily within my role to help people understand what benefits they are entitled to and potentially not claiming, to help people understand the additional support they could be entitled to, to understand how their financial circumstances may change moving into employment. I have found policy in practice to be beneficial for my participants as it helps to answer some of their questions as well as settle nerves about finances and going back to work. Better off calculator is a great tool! It helped with showing a benefit amount you could or are currently receiving but also showed better off in work. I found it very useful as you can try different scenarios by inputting hours and rate of pay. Highly recommend. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2024

The most modern, welcoming benefits calculator

The Better Off calculator is without a doubt the most modern, user-friendly tool I have used for this purpose. The graphics are extremely clear so that anyone can understand them, and it is very easy to see how changes in for instance employment or rental costs would affect my overall finances. On top of that, the attention to detail and customer service of the team is incredible: quick to reply, easy to interact with, and determined to make improvements whenever a suggestion is made.
