Review of the Prudential, Pension:

Workplace pension via Pru

1
The company I worked for set us all up on a workplace pension fund. They used Pru for several years and I left the company after 6 years. With approx 34k in the pension, when I left, I put my final salary etc into the pension to avoid a big tax hit. In the 3 years since I have left, it has actually hit a -2% value. Despite allegedly having the finest of minds actively looking after my investment. Their words. Which is swiftly followed by the "funds can go down as well as up when investing". Yet my personal investments, which I did with an online, zero hassle, minimum fee app (Nutmeg), Has shown a consistent 10% growth in the same timeframe. So those fine allegedly human minds at Pru, might want to borrow some pointers from Nutmegs Ai, that or quit robbing me with your stupidly high monthly fees and garbage customer support. I hit 55 this year and I will be taking the whole lot out of Prue the second I can. It will be more cost effective to take the tax hit and reinvest with a company that actually performs. Hard work

I found prudential to be fantastic for pension growth over the last 40 years. I had a very nice pot from minimal investment. Unfortunately, when it came to taking my pension, the pension team were a disgrace to the company. They could not have been less interested in my requests for information if they tried. They seemed to be very disgruntled that I'd even called. I mentioned transferring my pension to another provider, and I was told I couldn't do that. I knew that was wrong so I used L&G to extract the money from the Pru, and within 2 weeks I have my L&G pension up and running, and it was a pleasure dealing with them. Sorry Pru, but you stuffed up right at the finish line. I suspect this is connected to being taken over by M&G Wealth a number of years back. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2023

Worst customer service ever

1
The absolutely worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once you chose call back since it takes hours to find a representative, you get a call back after they have already closed so you choose #1 as instructed and nobody answers. If this were my company, we would be out of business. What should have been a simple problem to fixed, has turned into weeks with instructions to call back Wednesday to Friday for better service. Tried that as well and I can tell you it does not work. Invest you money elsewhere! Reviewed on: 10th January 2023

Poor company to handle your money.

1
I call about the years of service I had with spectrum brands. I was hired in Aug 1976. They froze the pension in June 2010. Do the math, it should be a couple months short of 34 years of service. Yet Prudential says it is only 27.9. If they can't do simple math, they really should not be handling anyone's money. Finally got this issue resolved after a full year. Not all Prudential fault; Spectrum Brands played a big part of the issue. Had to contact an attorney to get my full pension. Reviewed on: 9th November 2021

Lost pension fund

1
15 weeks after I found out the prudential lost my pension fund 15/20 calls 30 mins to 1 hour wait to be answered each time - placated by promises of calls back that have never come. Still no closer to them sorting the situation out. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SERVICE - DO NOT USE THESE INCONSIDERATE INCOMPETANT CRETINS FOR ANYTHING Reviewed on: 12th February 2021

Great switch to Pru

I moved to a Pru flexible pension with my IFA and have been very satisfied with the level of service and investment returns Reviewed on: 3rd January 2020

Easy pension to understand

5
Prudential helped me open a pension and start saving for the future. They made sure I understood the risks involved and investments. I felt so comfortable investing funds there for my pension. Reviewed on: 15th April 2019

Crooks

1
My pension turned out to be worthless, wish I hadn't bothered. These folk are crooks or very bad at investing and therefore should work at something they're better at. Reviewed on: 23rd September 2018
