Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

The best help you can get

Obviousley, If you need the help of Stepchange then you are not in the best of situations but they made everything so easy, no judgement so offered genuine help. Im nearly at the end of my plan now and it has been taken so much stress and pressure away. I would totally recommend them to anyone. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

Out of survival mode

Help when needed, from Day 1 onwards.

They have been very helpful from Day 1, particularly in providing direct advice on doing things like annual reviews, which can be a bit complex, and in handling notification of changes in the companies that are handling your debts. All of this has been very helpful and enabled me to make informed choices, but has also made it feel a lot less like I was caring a huge load! Reviewed on: 27th May 2026
