Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Stepchange allowed me to sort my life. I was in a very bad way financially 4 years ago and with the help of a debt management plan I am almost ready to start a fresh. I had £30k worth of debt and it was causing me a lot of stress. I was struggling to make minimum payments and had no chance of getting things under control.
