Saved me!

I was in a situation I thought I wouldn't be able to get out of and just felt so nervous and anxious all the time. I phoned stepchange just expecting some samey same advice. I spoke to the call handler and she spoke me through what stepchange were, and how they could help me. She was so kind and so helpful and made me feel like I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I cannot thank stepchange enough and would recommend to anybody who's in a debt situation. Put me on the right track

I was in a bad place with debt and having expectations from my family to move into my own flat but i was embarrassed to tell them I couldn’t afford it as i got myself into debt. I had no one to turn to as my debts were high and i started to worry. I then came across step change and when i rang them i was so anxious and felt ashamed to tell them of my debts but every advisor i had spoken too were so friendly professional and caring. They managed to set up a DMP for me which took less than a hour going through the creditors and what i owed then a budget of what my outgoings to live were. When this was all set up they contacted the creditors with the payment they would receive monthly. I had no hassle what so ever they also update you every month with a news letter etc. Only today I received a email to say i am nearly debt free and how good to see that and the feeling is amazing. They really helped me get my life back on track and this is not the end either they help you keep on track after your dmp finishes to make sure that you don’t fall into that hole again. In my monotone life I finally things what I can look out for it.

A helping hand when you need it most

I, like many others, turned to Step Change out of desperation, and the cool, calm and friendly way they helped me with my problem was such a relief. I owe them a lot, helping when my lenders wouldn't. Being a charity, they obviously do not have an 'agenda' so you can trust them to give you the right, best advice availible, always. Thay are firm with their advice and recomendationa but in being so, you kbow that there is hope to get out from under the burden of debt. Reviewed on: 8th July 2020

A wonderful charity who helped me when I was lower than I had ever been.

Following a divorce and falling into financial difficulty this truly amazing charity and its staff carried me through a really emotional time. They have helped with my creditors who have also been understanding and helped me live my life. I don't have much but I am repaying what I owe, can cover the bills and put food on the table. I can't thank this organisation enough. They inspired me that much I am now helping work colleagues through difficult financial times using the advice they have given me to guide them. I can't thank you enough or the creditors who have been so understanding during this whole situation. The name speaks for itself and it has helped me up that step to change my life. Thank you. Made a difficult and desperate situation much easier.

I first contacted Step Change in 2013.They were beyond helpful and weren’t judgemental at all.I had a big change in my personal life in January of 2015 when once again I had several. additional dealings with them.They made my situation so much easier to cope with.
