I was a nervous wreck with debts piling up after being made redundant. Stepchange was recommended by a family member and it was the best thing I ever did. They talked me through everything and set up a manageable payment scheme. Reviewed on: 19th May 2024

Fantastic staff and backup

When I approached step change I was in a financial mess . Other companies suggested possibly bankruptcy which was a route I wanted to avoid. Step change on the other hand suggested a debt management plan . They organised my creditors and prevented threatening letters and multiple telephone calls from them .I know this is a long process but I have the support of step change to help me through some very difficult times Reviewed on: 22nd July 2021

Peace of Mind

In 2001 my whole world fell apart , my wife of nearly forty years left me. The family home had to be put on the market. We were divorced and the house sold for a fraction of its worth. In the divorce settlement my wife was given half my pension. She came from a wealthy family and her mother paid for her another property. I could not afford another house of my own! I had to rent property. which each month cost me the half of my company pension I had remaining. The proceeds from the house sale didn’t last long and in 2013 I was deep in debt. I had to sell my car and buy a 17 year old run around. I couldn’t afford to pay my creditors and I was on the verge of committing suicide. Someone told me about Step Change Debt Charity and although It will take me , if I live that long. Another twenty plus years to pay off my debts. Step Change sorted me out from day one. At least I eat correctly, I pay my rent, my utilities and I have a life insurance. All this was sorted out by Step Change. The people there are brilliant and I cannot speak too highly of them. They have given me some of my self respect back and my peace of mind is returning. I would recommend this amazing service to anyone in debt and doesn’t know which way to turn.
