I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

A massive help

I was in a bad place financially and mentally. Struggling with constant worry about my problems and debts. Step Change has singlehandedly been the best support and structure I needed to get my back onto a better path in restoring order and relief with my debts and I'd be lost without them. From the very start their system is straightforward and easy to use and their customer service is impeccable. I would recommend any one who is feeling lost and overwhelmed with their money problems to talk to them and get their help as without them, I'd be still in a bad place, possibly even worse. I was at the point where there was far more going out of my bank account than coming into it I lived off my credit cards and overdraft and I was really sinking fast . From the first phone call to Stepchange, I had hope, One of their advisers immediately made me feel there was light at the end of the tunnel. I had never heard of Stepchange , and I would highly recommend them to anyone that' has financial problems. I can't thank Stepchane enouugh for all their help and advice. Five stars from me . Literally a life saver

Step Change have helped me turn my life around. Due to a back injury I had to give up working leaving me with unsustainable debt and not enough means to repay it. Excellent journey after a disaster

After Heart surgery, redundancy and drink I was recommended by a friend to contact Step Change known then as the CCCS. Though not yet completely out of debt I feel I am over the hill and see the end in sight. I would recommend the company to anyone who wants to sort things out. Reviewed on: 17th June 2021

I don’t know what I’d have done if I hadn’t found out about Step Change. I’d built up a few credit cards after having many operations on my feet and because I’d been off work wages stopped and credit cards were used. Now I’m able to pay them off without interest charges.
