Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

...and Breath

Following a very serious motor cycle accident, and an unscrupulous business take over, I was left with frontal lobe damage, no business, no income, a revised down credit rating and personal and business debt of nearly £70k. Step Change cut through all the emotion, have a proven track record, are trusted by creditors and the judicial system alike, and with their support I'm climbing out of my hole. It's long climb, but all being well Oct 2023 I'll be debt free. With Step Change behind me, I'm grateful to be sleeping better, and rebuilding my life. Reviewed on: 8th July 2020

Best free advice and debt solutions

I'd been paying a company to manage my DMP and didn't realise you could do it for free (at the time you're just grateful for the respite), but I switched to Stepchange and so pleased with their service. They show just the right amount of contact, send regular statements and keep a regular check on your finances without being intrusive. No bombarding with calls etc. Very happy with the help I've received and the flexibility shown with payment plans. Now nearing the end of my debts I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone struggling. Wonderful, unjudgmental service.

I was in denial about my debts, it was one of my creditors who suggested I speak to step change, I continued to bury my head in the sand for 2 more weeks whilst I plucked up the courage to make the call. They were amazing, did not judge my situation, listened and explained what they could do, never pushed me Into taking a debt management plan with them, explained I could do it myself, let me think it over and discuss with family. After taking the debt management plan out it has made me feel in more control of my debts, makes me focus on them, and i now have an end goal/target. Everytime I have contacted them they have been wonderful and sorted everything out. Would and have recommended people to these guys, keep up the good work. Reviewed on: 8th July 2020

Wish I'd know about them earlier.

Step change have helped me get my life and finances back on track. They have supported me through everything without making me feel judged.
