.Don't be ashamed to ask for help

I am in my 70s and was embarrassed to be in debt . Step Change have been incredibly helpful getting my debt under control which has helped me regain my self-respect. After getting advice from other DMP companies and learning how much interest I would have to pay, my friend told me about Stepchange. Helpful and stress free

Escaping debt through financial coercion

In 2024, I got out of a financial coercive relationship. My partner had goaded me into gettting loans and shopping on a popular online catalogue. I was in a huge amount of debt and reached out to StepChange. They gave me the advice I needed and now I'm on a debt management plan and it has taken all of the worry off my shoulders. I now have better control of my finances and can even afford the odd treat for myself. I can't recommend them enough! Reviewed on: 9th May 2026
