I was swamped with credit card debt!

I was swamped with credit card debt, the minimum payments kept getting bigger and the interest was cancelling out my payments. I was getting no where with asking for help from the creditors. Step change has taken all the stress away and now with affordable monthly payments and interest stopped I can actually see my debt going down. It's a massive relief. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

I had got myself into quite a bit of debt for which I was paying back with extortionate interest rates! I was falling further and further behind with payments, I was losing sleep and making myself sick with worry over it. I saw an advert for StepChange and after a lot of dithering I gave them a call. I am so glad I did, I actually faced up to my problems for the first time and although I was horrified by how much I actually owed, I did feel that it was the first step to getting sorted. The advisor went through all my incoming and outgoing money, suggesting ways to cut back and cancel unnecessary subscriptions etc. After we had all the information we agreed on an affordable amount for me to pay off my debts. I now only have one monthly payment instead of six or seven different payments going out. It has certainly put my mind at ease knowing my debts are being taken care of and I also have a date of woo will be debt free so that’s great to work towards. Excellent customer service and support.

I freak out whenever I get contacted about my finances. I’ve felt less alone working with stepchange. Although one of the companies I’m paying back have done nothing but bully me every month. That hasn’t stopped. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

I do not know where and what I would have done, had...

I do not know where and what I would have done, had I not approached Step Change. I can not express enough of how much this charity saved me. The staff are absolutely incredible, very understanding, reassuring and realistic. This organisation is like no other, we need more of these kind of people and organisations, supporting and empowering people to not be fearful of their debt and finances. So many people do not understand how to manage their money, debt and finances. This organisation not only empowers people to do this, but demonstrates how you can build money management into your day to day life and not hide away from it. Thank you so much Step Change. Life changing

I was struggling with my debts,and it was affecting my health and my family. I was afraid and scared of being judged. But after contacting StepChange, I soon realised how wrong I was, they are the nicest, friendliest people to deal with. I’m glad I am with them, as my life has changed for the better. Lifesavers.

I have been with Stepchange for a number of years and I can honestly say that they saved my life. The stress from the debt I was in was overwhelming until the day I spoke to one of their advisors.
