Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

StepChange are lifesaver.

With StepChange all my payments go to reducing my debts unlike others who charge a fee. They deal with all the creditors which reduces stress as all the threatening letters stopped. I can see my debts reducing and how much I owe. The portal is easy to use. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Debt had took over my life due to losing my job, I couldn’t sleep at night, felt I was letting my wife and children down and was struggling to provide the basics, step change changed everything for me, I was embarrassed to call but once I had they made me feel at ease , put all my worries to one side and ensured I once again had a life, I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
