I'd been struggling with loan repayments for over a year after taking out more than I could realistically afford. After months of stress and starting to fall further behind I called Stepchange who ran through my debts and suggested several options for me. They advised of the best one to take but left the final decision to me. They are so helpful every time I need to make an ammendment to fit my circumstances and every person I've spoken to there has treated me with patience and understanding and been happy to provide as much assistance as required. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is struggling regularly to meet payments . Their service has provided a buffer between myself and my creditors which took so much of the stress away and gave me the chance to concentrate on my life again. I think its fair to say they saved me from certain mental health issues that come with prolonged stress. Their work is invaluable and makes a huge difference to people's lives . Thankyou to you all. After being in debt since I was in my early twenties...

After being in debt since I was in my early twenties, and then becoming a single mum of two children my ability to manage my money became increasing difficult to the point where I had to start receiving food bank. This really affected me as I’d always managed to keep my head above water! Since hearing about them from a friend I called and was led through the process of setting up a debt mgt plan. They are so understanding and helpful to your needs and after a few years of manageable payments in the next two months I will officially be debt free! Credit card debt

Very useful advice even in late 70s

I found out about Stepchange through my bank having financial difficulties which had got out of hand in my late seventies. The loss of knowing how to deal with money worries was frightening and I dithered; procastrinated. To an extent I still do but the knowledgeable and kind people, a rare combination, have made it possible to believe that even at my age I will get sorted out. I am now 83, dealing with modern technology and complexities becomes increasingly difficult but in spite of my shortcomings I know I can get help.
