Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Helpful, professional and empathetic.

My experience with Step Change has been a pleasant experience. The staff are very helpful and empathetic to the situation I found myself in. A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders and having a clear plan having to make one payment per month is much easier to manage than several scattered throughout the month. Supportive, Professional and Completely Non-Judgemental

StepChange have been incredibly helpful and supportive throughout. From the very start, they made everything feel much less overwhelming and explained the options clearly and professionally. The person I spoke with was kind, patient and completely non-judgemental, which made a difficult situation far easier to deal with. I seperated from my husband and ended up with some debts thay I couldn't afford. I reached out to stepchnage who were super helpful and arranged breathing space for me with my creditors and then arranged a debt management plan which was a godsend as its meant I can pay people back but also pay my bills and support my kids.
