Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

I am extremely grateful to StepChange for their help and support over the last few years, my debts had become totally unmanageable and I was desperate to find a solution. All my anxiety and worry went after I contacted Step change. I have had DMP in place for a long time with not much left to go. It really has helped me so much. Stepchange got me breathing again

Stepchange helped me breathe again. I was at an all time low, depressed and struggling to cope. Stepchange took one of the big burdens off my chest by negotiating repayments with all my lenders. And they didn't just stop there. When I had to leave my job and find a new one that paid less, they helped me review my budget and reassessed my payments. Throughout my dealings with Stepchange, they have been always professional as well as caring. They genuinely understood my distress and helped me visualise a future where i would be debt free.
