Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Step Change responded promptly to my application for help. The person who rang me to find out a bit more was friendly, helpful and non judgementally, it was such a relief when they dealt with the creditors setting up a payment plan which could be managed and reviewed online. Very professional and non judgmental. Debts were becoming overwhelming and unmanageable, with the right advice and a step forward from myself, I’m now in control, with a reduced single payment per month to step change who then distribute payments to all my creditors, I’m a step closer to becoming debt free.
