Local no nonsense ,easy to understand safe savings

Local branch so easy to get to know the staff and call in for advice . We have saved there for years and like the Vernon for its low key image and lack of gimmicks . I like having an old fashioned savings book too ! Reviewed on: 27th January 2025

Good products, poor website

I decided to open a regular savings account with Vernon because of the combination of a good interest rate and good flexibility. The is opened and managed entirely online so I went onto the website to open the account. To cut a long story short, it took 4 attempts to open the account. The first 3 times I got to the final stage and ended up in a place where I couldn't click on anything to take me forward. Hitting the back button on the browser took me right back to the first page of the application and all the information I had previously entered was lost. On the 4th attempt I entered all the information correctly and the application was accepted. However, it was purely guesswork on my part that allowed me to complete the application, there was no indication as to what the problem was (I think it was to do with me entering some aspect of my bank account info wrongly). Day to day use of the website to administer the account is not much better - it looks very amateurish and could really do with a professional update. Reviewed on: 27th January 2025

Local, accessible and overall good value
