Review of the Wonga, Short Term Loan:

My data has been stolen

1
I had a complaint with Wonga which they disputed all the way until the FOS ombudsman made a legally binding decision they couldn't get out of. Now that has been sorted I have been notified that my data has been stolen from them which puts me financially at risk - Well done Wonga you really are awful Reviewed on: 10th April 2017

Borrowed what we could afford!

4
In the past we had pay day loans from Wonga, we only borrowed what we could afford and we made sure we paid it back on time, I believe we paid an extra £48 back. But that was so worth it as the money we borrowed we used to do some extra bits on holiday, and made the holiday even better. It didn't get us into trouble the next month as it was a one off. Expensive

1
I took out a wonga pay day loan a good few years ago! ended up getting the debt written off but I had payed more in charges than I'd taken in the first place Reviewed on: 10th May 2016

Never again

1
I took out a pay day loan with Wonga and I really wish I hadn't; I ended up needing to borrow more for a couple of months to keep my head above water. I would never have another again, I'm lucky I haven't needed a loan at all since then and I have been able to get a mortgage. Reviewed on: 10th May 2016

Catch 22

1
I took a pay day loan out and got into lots of problems as I ust could not pay it off so would have to get more loans out,it really is catch 22 and stealing from Peter to feed Paul situation Reviewed on: 10th May 2016

Very unhelpful

1
If you can get them on the phone, there very unhelpful and not very pleasant talking to them about problems you have , they make lots of errors and mistakes and are to quick to charge , I got a late payment default on the day the payment went thro and paid them, I protested against it and won my case. Need to educate our children about payday loans

1
Son took a pay day loan for £100 when he was 18 - he had no idea about interest and just thought he would pay it back on payday with no problem ...as his car broke down he repaired that first and left the loan only to find the interest had grown to a massive amount. In the end he had to go for help and ended up paying over £2000. I really think they took advantage of a young man who was not money savvy. Not only did he have to pay back a massive amount compared to what he borrowed but his credit score was effected and so its really effected his life. I think its so important to educate our children about these sharks Reviewed on: 10th May 2016

Where are the background checks

1
My eldest son took a pay day loan over a weekend until he got paid so he didn't have to pay bank charges. It worked for him. he only ever had to do it once. It was a £4 charge against £25 the bank would have charged him so it was fine for him. My 2nd son has some severe mental health issues in which he was in flare up at one time. He took one out through Wonga, couldn't afford to pay it back, so took another out. Wonga did ask us if we wanted him blocked from using them again. I said yes. What really peeved me about this with my 2nd son was no checks were done. My 2nd son did something in a mental health (diagnosed) flare up and there was no redress for us It concerns me that people who have problems like my 2nd son can get these loans so easily Reviewed on: 10th May 2016

Decent lender

5
They always get a bad rap bet I've found them friendly and useful Reviewed on: 9th May 2016

Terrible

1
They make you feel like they are doing you a huge favour when they deem you eligible for a loan they seem to think its a privilege for you to pay them back their huge interest rates Reviewed on: 6th May 2016

Okay. Wouldn't really recommend unless urgently needed
