Would never recommend 1st central insurance

Changed car from 2 litre 7 seater Galaxy to 1 litre Ford Focus. They did not lower premium instead put it up with admin fee. Then they said they would charge me £175 if I wanted to cancel. I could have got a policy elsewhere for £12 per month but I have to pay £ 33 per month for a 1 litre car as I can't afford the cancellation fee Reviewed on: 12th October 2015

1st central are trying to charge me for a non disclosure that I did in fact disclose. After getting no where on the phone and being called a liar by two members of staff, I decided to write on their Facebook wall. They have now deleted my comments on their wall. Absolutely, the worst insurance company in the world!

A dustcart hit my parked, stationary car on 15 August 2014 (almost a year to the day). Heavily pregnant (I went into labour that evening), trying to sort out my claim and a hire car, the service I received was totally incompetent. To this day, I am still trying to retrieve my £250 excess. 50 plus telephone calls, at least 20 emails and facebook messages, and I am still no further. I did at one point think it was sorted when I received a cheque, however, after banking this cheque it bounced!! No apolgies, no reasoning nothing!! Disgusting service, not even worth the 1 star. My review will be about it all Buying. Simple. It has always been easy to purchase insurance from 1st central, and the policy has always been fair, getting a good deal for your money. Insurance with 1st Central has always been a great price. Normally with cheap insurance you get bad service for your money, but we have never experienced that, Changing something It has always been simple and straight forward to do any changes, we've previously changed cars with the insurer, and they made no fuss, and no silly charges to do so. Day to day contact They have always contacted us with any changes. We've also used their renewal quotes that roll over for another year iinsurance (even with comparing first) They have always been readily available to speak with and always ensure they help and see matters through Leaving Never had to leave. Terrible customer service

My non fault claim at 1st central insurance took over a month to sort. I was lied to by 1 call handler. My calls weren't logged or followed up on numerous occasions. Was left without a hire car for 3 days. The stress it caused making this claim was totally unavoidable. The only saving grace was Lee in the complaints dept, who sorted the issue out within 2 days.
