Review of the Cover My Breakdown, Vehicle breakdown insurance:

AVOID this company at all costs!

AVOID this company at all costs! I paid for a National and Home policy. My policy schedule says 'home assistance' included so when my car was dead as a dodo one morning I called 'CoverMy Breakdown' for come and help me. They asked me lots of questions which, in hindsight, were all targeted to try and find a clause to get out of helping me. I called them on a Tuesday and on Monday I had got into the car and started the engine so it was strange that the following morning my car was flat. I explained this to the call-handler and I also explained that I'd had ongoing issues with the batteries in my key-fob (which I'd fixed on the Monday) and that my car was due a software recall update at the Peugeot garage for the following week. They asked me if there was any way I could have caused the battery to drain myself to which I said no as it had started the previous day and we hadn't used it. I did go on to say that on Saturday my husband had left the indicator stalk up which causes my car to leave a parking light on. I'd turned that off on Sunday when I noticed it and then BOOM! I'd made their day. The call-handler sounded almost gleeful in telling me that 'sorry they weren't able to help me'. He then immediately spouted out a T&C Article 4 or something explaining that because I accidentally left a light on it was therefore deemed my fault my battery was dead and therefore it invalided the cover! WOW. I have to applaud them for their questioning technique as I felt I was being geniunely helpful in explaining everything that had lead upto this day but all they were doing was trying to find a way out of it. Luckily my husban's van was being recovered from our driveway the following day (as he'd been in an accident) and the recovery driver for him was really willing and kind to help me. It turns out my car did need a jump start but then the car starting showing up lots of faults and error messages. I daren't try my 'recovery' company to help so I had my husband follow me to Peugeot in his hire van and I've left if with them to fix. I was so lucky that I wasn't in a real emergency situation. The cover was cheap and I've learnt my lesson. I just wish I'd seen these reviews before paying them. Funny how I can't seem to be able to leave me a google review. Hopefully this will help others avoid being scammed and left in trouble. I have no faith in this company any more and will be seeking alternative cover immediately. Reviewed on: 25th July 2024

Avoid at all costs....

We broke down on the 2nd September at a Campsite, we were travelling with our family and caravan. My Husband purchased National Recovery and Homestart from this company back in June. We spent over 4 hours on our initial telephone call trying to get through to them. Eventually when the call was answered the chap explained that we were not covered within our policy to be recovered home. They wanted to take the car to a local garage, bearing in mind this was now Saturday afternoon. With most Garages shut all day Sunday. We were in a rural location in the lake district. Our next phonecall to them we were then told because we were 254 miles away from home National cover does not cover this? 3rd phone call they inform us that it is their discretion that they cannot recover our vehicle but could take it to a local garage (this was very late Saturday evening). We read them their own terms and conditions on the phone which they agreed with, but obviously discretion plays a big part as they said we are over 254 miles away. What you must do is completely avoid this company. Have a look yourselves on what they offer on National Cover. It covers nothing! They wanted to give us a quote on recovery which would have been around the two thousand pound mark. I dread to think if anyone that is vulnerable whilst travelling and breaks down which we all can be given some situations takes cover out with this company Reviewed on: 4th September 2023
