By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Ideal policy if you're driving short distances. The prepaid premium was very cheap and I spent almost nothing for 2.5 months due to doing almost no driving during the lockdown. Even after, driving just 3 or 4 miles a day you can pay just a couple of pounds a month. Exceptional value but I recommended it with only 7/10 stars because it wouldn't be such good value for people who have to drive long distances. Reviewed on: 29th July 2020

I switched to by miles just before lockdown, I have saved so much money! The process so was simple the device was sent out within a couple of days, the instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. By Miles is a perfect one for people who use their car less. Apart from a small amount of upfront fee, you only pay as much as you use your car. For me, because of the lock down period, it has come down to about 50% of my last years cost with other provider. Even without lockdown, it would have come down by 30% considering my average use.
