By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Just what I needed

I'd just changed my car and decided to change my insurer too as I'd recently become a less-frequent driver. (Retired from work, more house-bound through illness, you get the picture?) I realised I was paying high premiums to have my vehicle inactive on my drive for lengthy periods. Then I found By Miles - it was just what I needed. I think the pricing is fair and I can see at a glance all my journeys, by length and by cost, so I know what I'm paying "as I go" and I'm able to track everything - my journeys, my payments, the lot. I'm not sure whether my future driving will change in any way, but there's no way I shall be changing from By Miles. It's the best, er...by miles! Reviewed on: 10th September 2019

Might sound odd, but it’s actually quite fun knowing exactly how cheap each journey is. The way by miles works is great, I don’t think I could go back to normal insurance now. Setup was very easy, customer service is great. The whole thing is superb. Reviewed on: 10th September 2019
