I have both personal savings and the housing cooperatives I am involved with have been understood and supported with mortgages by ecology building society. We appreciate them taking the time to understand cooperative ownership as so many other large lenders do not understand cooperatives and ndo not provide suitable suitable options. I wanted a more ethical business to save with and I have been with the Ecology since they were founded. I have had excellent service.... The phones are answered promptly and money can be moved with minimum fuss. Staff are always helpful and friendly. I hope they stay ethical, personal and small. The Ecology Building means savings are invested in positive change- although it’s definitely ‘slow banking’ over things like withdrawals, changing address, paper statements etc, this is a positive thing for me - my savings stay earning interest because I can’t quickly dip into them ! It takes 1-2 days. Customer service on the phone is good - they arranged an end of day Faster Payment when it was flagged for security, within 2hrs for house move.
