Ethical, and so Supportive !

I love saving with a building society that does specific, practical things for the environment, and for housing (both so badly needed). Ethical - no investments in bombs or fossil fuels! The people who work for it are lovely! When I ring up to ask questions, I always get patient, friendly help and clear answers. Sure, the interest rate offered is modest - but this is outweighed by the peace of mind Ecology Building Society offers its customers. Reviewed on: 10th November 2024

More important now than ever

Being a member of the Ecology Building Society allows me to: 1) Know my savings are being invested ethically. 2) Provide finance and credit to innovative projects that would otherwise struggle to attract funding. 3) Contribute to the transition of UK housing to a sustainable carbon footprint. Not many savings providers allow you to cover so many bases so easily! Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Excellent Service

I am a saver with the Ecology and the service has always been excellent. My mother was also a saver and I have recently had to wind up her estate and the telephone support I have received has been sympathetic, efficient and timely. They have an helpful customer service as well as good interest rates for the saving accounts offered. Also good to know that your money goes invested into good causes. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Great ethos

Lovely to deal with, Ecology have values that align with ours, ethical pay structures, investments in energy efficient housing. It's a shame interest rates are so low across the board, but we hope to use our savings and secure a loan for an EnerPHit standard home renovation - we know who to come to! Good service for savers and brilliant principles on mortages

Member since early 1990s when we decided this was a good place to invest a small inheritance. Have invested regularly since and always had good experiences. What is so attractive about the Ecology is the way in which it supports sustainable and innovative initiatives. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

A building society with ethics at its heart

I value Ecology BS for so many reasons beyond the normal service ad efficiency you would always hope for: they have a fair and sensible policy for staff remuneration (the best I've seen), they promote sustainable and energy-efficient projects, they keep all customers well-informed with their excellent newsletter about new projects and initiatives (far beyond the obvious realms of finance)... and so much more.
