I recently applied for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY and was initially approved for £288,000. However, the offer was unexpectedly reduced to £273,000 without a clear explanation. Despite paying a £199 application fee, I have yet to receive a refund, despite multiple attempts to contact customer service. This sudden change caused significant stress and wasted valuable time. I believe the lender's initial assessment was flawed, as the discrepancy of £15,000 is too large to be attributed to a simple error. Additionally, I am disappointed that my bonus was not fully considered in the initial decision-making process. If you are considering applying for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY, I would advise caution. Desperately needs a digital offer

Responsiveness and product excellent however the complete lack of digital and online options are very off-putting. I have no access to in person banking within miles of where I live, haven't had a cheque book for decades and the use off pass books and hand written application forms as a single channel seems ridiculous today. Whilst some do still prefer these and I applaud your offer, for the vast majority of us digital is absolutely the preferred access and management route for finance. Reviewed on: 1st October 2024

Liam Hollis great customer service

I have recently set up a 5 year cash isa. This has been my first time and Liam Hollis has been there ever step of the way. If it was getting in touch with myself when I incorrectly filled out the application form or confirming the funds have been received, he was always there and been on hand when needed. Friendly and Helpful Branch

We always find our visits to the branch really good- the staff are always friendly and professional. That was particularly so in our last visit when Beverley helped my wife and I to transfer our 120 day ISAs to a fixed ones.
