Cash ISA investment

I needed a reasonable rate of return for a 2022/23 Cash ISA investment of £20,000 and chose the Mansfield based on what I had read about comparable rates. The talk-through by your Mr Higginbottom at the Chesterfield Branch was friendly and thorough but at all times professional. Paperwork was easily comprehensible and response times were good. The score is four star, rather than five, because the reaction time to a change in the BoE interest rate could have been quicker, ideally son after the announcement was made; not lagging behind by so much. Membership coming up to 14 years and have always been treated with respect and upmost professionalism with all dealings, but in particular with help during family bereavements. I suppose we all have different wishes and requirements, but I would like to see a much larger gap in favour of fixed rate bonds savings interest accounts. Reviewed on: 4th April 2023

Friendly and efficient service.

By coincidence I called in to my local branch today (a) to pay in to one of my accounts and (b) to update a few of my passbooks. As always the counter staff (on this occasion Helen and Haley) were pleasant and amenable and dealt with my visit in a polite and efficient manner with a bit of good natured banter thrown in along the way. Myself and my husband have a lot savings with you. We have transferred a few accounts of late, ISA's etc. I feel that the way we were dealt with was unprofessional. After having a long conversation about postal strikes and asking for my passbooks not to be posted out, my wish was ignored and they were posted. They went missing for weeks and weeks. I would not want anything like that posting whether there were strikes or not. On top of this, trying to get an appointment was an absolute nightmare. We both work full time and could only make afternoons and weekends. I was told we could not have appointments after 3pm in the week. This is ridiculous for working people. It took weeks to get a weekend appointment. I was at the point where I was considering moving our £100k savings elsewhere. While being a friendly local branch in important, it should not be at the expense of professionalism, where people who I presume are manager level staff turn up for meeting dressed like they are going to sit on the sofa and watch Netflix. I will say that I the staff that man the main desk are always friendly and helpful, the issue has been where appointments have been needed. Reviewed on: 4th April 2023
