We are a charity and used Mansfield as a deposit for our funds raised. Not very often, about once or twice a year we would ask for information, such as the annual interest certificate for our account, a requirement for the accountants.. every time we or particularly me tried to interact with Mansfield, I had to jump through hoops to even be told MY national insurance number was wrong!! yet on other occasions - no problem. Things I asked for were never sent, letters I sent to Mansfield regarding change of address for myself, they say they never received.. Mansfield is just hard work. Reviewed on: 7th November 2025

A safe place to invest

I invested a large amount of money with Mansfield and so was a bit anxious about it's safety. The communication that was always provided by Mansfield staff meant that I was always reassured that I was dealing with a reputable organisation and that I had invested wisely. Some of your systems are a bit outdated but the person I spoke with said they are being updated. what I do like is that there’s the minimum of contact with the customer, no oppressive marketing. Reviewed on: 4th November 2025

Disappointed is an understatement.

Opened a savings account with all the documentations needed. I made the 1st transfer of £12 into my account and followed the instructions carefully (firstly, it shouldn't be such a process to make a transfer) and my £12 has vanished into thin air. It never arrived into my Mansfield account & yet left my Halifax account. I called customer service & the lady wasn't helpful, she had made up her mind that I must have done the transfer wrongly & my explanation was not getting through. I am disappointed with this bank is an understatement. All the process & yet making a transaction isn't even easy. I am glad I only transfered £12 not any huge figure otherwise. I do NOT recommend Mansfield building society. You might as cut out the middle man & go straight to Barclays (the affiliated bank). I feel very disappointed & upset. I feel like my effort was wasted. Anyways, I found another bank who was offering the same service as Mansfield & everything was as smooth as butter. Reviewed on: 4th November 2025
