Overall pretty smooth and easy to sign up

Overall pretty smooth and easy to sign up for a building society. However it wasn't clear how to put money into the account. Eventually I found the details in one of the PDFs, though it wasn't as obvious as other banks/societies. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2024

Great service in branch and tips for online service

Great service in branch and on telephone with branch. HQ phone lines too slow and too busy. Online access is basic and hopefully being further developed…I would like to see my accounts automatically uploaded onto the website as soon as they’re opened and to open accounts online. Please allow several faster payments into a bond, a small test £10 and further £ over a few days as banks restrict our payments to £20,000 or less. Paying by debit card online is useful. Bear in mind that although I have internet, I don’t have any mobile phone signal at home to use for logging in. Keep the branches open, online is never 100% effective! Took up Mark Higginbottom's advice to open up a high-interest savings account and it was good to deal with someone who is reliably friendly and knowledgeable. It's always reassuring to know that the Chesterfield branch has sensible opening hours and is well situated. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2024

Mansfield could do better

Mansfield tend to offer lower rates than on the market and have a habit of updating issues with better rates and leaving earlier issues behind.. Staff are ok but getting through by phone in chesterfield can be an annoying problem. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2024
