Need interest rise on account

Opened an account for sale proceeds of house that would been needed quickly to fund a future purchase. Interest rate was good and they are proactive in passing on base rate rises to the customer Reviewed on: 8th August 2023

Good rate of interest although issues when closing the account

I chose this account as it gave a good rate of interest and was variable so it would increase with all the rate changes that happen at the moment. It was only ever going to be a short term investment as the money came from a house sale and would be needed to fund a future purchase. Unfortunately although I gave the right amount of notice and applied to close withing the time window stated. My interest added was incorrect as I was penalised as though I had not given notice. I accept that this was human error but disappointed that there is not a process in place to check that it was correct on closure. It was not a small amount that was penalised. Whilst this was sorted out it necessitated a number of phone calls. My concern was that someone may not have understood/noticed and been shortchanged. Its a shame as it has spoiled the experience. Using a Mansfield BS Branch

Initially, I used the Kirkby branch to transfer a cash ISA from the Leeds BS and found the experience excellent. Recently, I used the Sutton branch to carry out an internal cash ISA transfer. Staff were always helpful and friendly. Process successful and quick. Reviewed on: 8th August 2023

Joined Mansfield some years ago because there was always a person at the other end of the phone to speak with. regrettably this is not the case now and so I decided to move my accounts to another provider - I appreciate that it's the way of the world now- machines, bots and no social intercourse. ! Saving rates lagging market rates

For the previous 0.5% BOE rate rise there was no increase in the rate for my account. After the latest rate rise there is still no announcement from Mansfield BS. Other building societies e.g. Yorkshire, Leeds and Coventry can do this why not the Mansfield? Reviewed on: 8th August 2023
