Has not moved with the times

Had good rates on monthly savers, but still insisting on passbooks, and ID such as printout of pdf from on-line account to be sent through post. Absolute limit of ridiculousness, was when closing my account I was required to pay £10 for a replacement book just to have it stamped closed. Fortunately this was refunded after I lodged a formal complaint, but it should not have been necessary in the first place. Reviewed on: 30th May 2023

Our charge for replacing a lost passbooks is a standard fee for all members, although in this instance, we could have been more flexible from the outset to allow you to close your account more smoothly. We will learn from this experience to ensure other savers do not face excessive administrative burdens when closing their accounts. Response date: 1st June 2023

Good products but service a bit old fashioned.

I like the range of products offered by the Mansfield. However to transfer between ISAs I had to post in identification although I'm an existing customer. I didn't wish to post my original passport and getting an authorised copy is expensive and time consuming. It took some searching to locate some suitable identification. I wondered why this was necessary as the money was an internal transfer. It wasn't likely to be a fraudulent transaction. I'm a Lloyd's bank customer and recently opened a new account online and transferred money between accounts very easily with no need for further checks. Reviewed on: 9th May 2023

Good savings option

The account we had was a good interest rate when we opened it and it allowed regular payments with no end date on the account. As with any account you need to keep up to date with savings rates and in the end the rate didn’t keep up with others. We still have other accounts with the Mansfield but forget about doing anything online as they are just not up to it. It took 3 months to open an online saver account.. Reviewed on: 9th May 2023

We constantly review our rates to ensure we remain competitive and react to market conditions and last increased our rates on 1st March, however we are sorry to hear that on this occasion you didn’t feel that we were competitive. We recently received high levels of interest in some of our online savings accounts and as a result this caused some service delays.
