Cost-effective, easy to manage pet insurance

We are fortunate that we haven't had to use our pet insurance yet, but Bought By Many came highly recommended and so far has been a very easy to manage insurer. Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

"BOUGHT BY MANY" AND THIS IS WHY

5
After much research l finally decided on a Bought by Many insurance policy for my dog. Reason for my choice was simple. Best price & more cover than the competition. But most important, l have read reviews from customers who have needed to make a claim. Those reviews were positive. You may save a few Bob by shopping around. But regardless of how much the saving, the policy is of no use if the provider starts to look for reasons not to pay out when your pet is going to die if you cannot afford to pay for treatment. Sadly, my last dog needed an operation. Having no insurance my only option was to have the PDSA do the operation. My dog died 5 days later in their care. I am a registered people nurse. Despite me pointing out their failures, their investigation found no wrongdoing. Much as l expected. That dog was my best friend and l let her down by having no insurance which would have allowed me to choose which vet would perform the surgery. Ask yourself one question. What would you pay for your pets lifesaving surgery? Me? I would have gladly paid 10 times the cost of the bought by many policy as my dog was only 7. She was a Bichon & it was a simple bladder stones operation, so she would have lived another 10yrs at the minimum. 1yr 10 months & 6 days since l buried her & l still miss her & will always feel the guilt for not having her insured. To look into her eyes knowing she was going to die was one of the most traumatic days of my life. If you love your pet, then sort out the insurance without delay. Don't do as l did. After you sort out your insurance. Check out the reviews on the local vets. Choose one that has 24hr callout. Then get your pet registered. Don't leave it until an emergency occurs. You would do it for your child, so do it for your pet. Jim Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

Faultless

I chose a mid-range sort of policy for my rescue crossbreed who I thought was in robust health and unlikely to need much in the way of veterinary care in the coming years... I was VERY wrong and she has had two serious surgeries within a month of each other along with other more minor complaints, bringing the total vet bill to tens of thousands. The Bought By Many claims process was completely painless every time and quickly paid. The cherry on top is, after these costly claims, the renewal price was barely more than the previous year (and very clearly due to factors other than my claim history). Very pleased indeed. I phoned to change my second dog from her existing insurer to BBM, as my other dog is insured with them and we have received excellent service. Simon, the person i spoke with was so helpful, going out of his way to explain the policy to me. I would highly recommend BBM. Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

Great value, fantastic cover

I insured my puppy last year on the policy where you get money back for no claims, after I got a recommendation from a friend. Thankfully we didn't have to claim, so Buddy will get an extra wee treat. I got free access to an online course in dog first aid, which was fantastic and very interesting and informative. Would definitely recommend Bought By Many. Reviewed on: 6th August 2020
