Can I give 0 stars instead?

Awful experience from start, and would not say finish as we have still not completed with this company. However if you have the choice you should avoid like the plague. Reviewed on: 18th February 2021

SHOCKING

The single worst experience with a mortgage company ever!! My family and I including my two children under the age of 6 were left literally homeless a week before Christmas!! Why?!, because of the complete lack of communication (on their part) and their admin errors and them loosing paperwork. I had my mortgage advisor working over time, checking everyday to ensure everything was in place to find out the day before completion that they were not going to release the funds! Disgusting behaviour I shall be investigating a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy! Reviewed on: 31st January 2021

Wonderfully helpful

As a broker i deal with many lenders daily and can honestly say to service provided by MBS and in particular, underwriter Emmy-Jane Short made a difficult process so much easier, a complex case and being able to talk through with a decision maker made the process feel smooth. Mortgage Rates

I'd like to understand why the Melton Mowbray Building Society decided to profit from the recent base rate reductions, and not to reduce the standard variable rate for mortgages in line with many other lenders? Wouldn't it be more in line with your statement "being a mutual building society which places customers and the community at the heart of everything we do.". Reviewed on: 27th June 2020

Reply from Melton Building Society Thank you for your review. Unlike other lenders, we chose not to increase our Standard Variable Rate when Bank of England Base Rate was last increased. Accordingly, our SVR was already lower than many of our competitors during the recent rate reductions. If you would like to discuss in more detail then please telephone us on 01664 414141.
