I've had PayPal for a while now and genuinely like the credit options on offer. Pay in 3 is great for everyday online purchases, and the credit facility works well for larger spends. I recently got the PayPal credit card too, which I've been happy with overall as I dont just need to use this online.. The rewards programme is where things fall short. To move from the blue tier, you need around 20,000 points — but at 1 point per £10 spent, that requires £200,000 in spending, if thats wrong then it might not be clear. For most customers, the rewards tier is simply unreachable, which makes the programme feel pointless for lower to mid-range spenders. By comparison, cards like American Express offer meaningful rewards and air miles at a much more accessible level, which is where I've shifted more of my spending. The platform at paypal itself is solid and easy to use all the feratures in app are in browser which is a perk comapred to other sites, and customer support is generally awesome. One improvement I'd suggest is extending the chat session timeout — it closes within a few minutes of inactivity, which isn't practical for people who are working while trying to resolve an issue. Being able to pick up a chat where you left off would save time for both customers and the support team. Ive had to ask around 3 times just becuase im waiting, it opens then I cant get to it in time. its not what you want when your talking about £. Overall, a good service with real potential, but some aspects need updating to better serve customers who aren't high-volume spenders. Reviewed on: 2nd June 2026
