4 staff, several days, 3 runs to access my Account

Thanks to modern technology this is my THIRD attempt to complete this feedback. As an older member [previously trained by IBM as a 'Computer Consultant'] I consider myself 'computer literate' but baffled by all the fast changing impersonal modern technology -- so Cost Saving for Companies, but infuriatingly hostile and UN Customer Friendly to their clientele -- again as the following illustrates NOT restricted to the older generation! My issue was with [apparently] the Society's automated system. Over several days and long time consuming telephone calls with Max, Katie and Zoe - each of whom had to give up because they too were baffled! - I called back at an agreed time, but Zoe was not available. Charlotte and myself spent a further long [but totally enjoyable] call trying many variations of potential solutions to get the Society's computer to recognize a very longstanding member to allow him access to his account. To her entire credit Charlotte eventually hit the jackpot and the machine conceded defeat. Absolutely NO criticism of MA, Katie or Zoe each of whom tried their best, but the Gold Star has to go to Charlotte. I enjoyed every chat with each of them. Life is about PEOPLE not machines. My background is as an IBM trained Computer Consultant, so using automated systems ought not to be so infuriatingly difficult! Reviewed on: 11th February 2026

Staff are at the heart

Not Lost That Lovin' Feeling

The whole banking process has gradually 'lost that loving feeling' since the accelerated branch closures of the big five High Street banks. SWBS has managed to retain the common touch and genuinely does feel as if the staff, on the phone or in person, know who you are.
