Problem free remortgaging

A fairly positive experience

A lot of issues in satisfying the society in relation to my wife’s and my pensions. Certainly in relation to my pension. Good rates but slow

The rates are fantastic and were cheapest at the time of applying however it felt like I was applying for a mortgage in 1980. It’s a shame as I used the Scottish building society app to prove my identity which was brilliant and then was never told to use it again. Everything was done by post. I personally think 3 months to set up a mortgage is too long, All that been said, I would still use SBS again in the future if the rates were the most competitive. Got there eventually!

The process for approval is cumbersome compared to previous lenders RBS and Santander. Got there eventually though after providing documents I’d never been asked for before! Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

We had no problem with setting up our mortgage for the Scottish Building Society. We did have some small issues with the legal side which caused some delay however nothing that would stop me from recommending them. Reviewed on: 15th March 2023
