Started great, then stagnated

I've been with Starling since the beginning. I loved how they are a real bank, but had this startup spirit. It was more than just cute Emojis (sorry Monzo), but proper banking, done right. And they did personal and business accounts from very early on. But it seems they stopped innovating and improving their app. To this day, getting international payments is a huge pain. They only show up as "You paid yourself", which makes reconciliation with the accounting software a real hassle. I raised it several times over the years and keeps getting a "coming soon" answer. Now they introduced the "accounting addon" with cute icons for the most common card transactions and budgeting features, which - if you're using a professional accountant and their software - is a bit useless. Especially when the basics aren't right yet. Can't be that hard to surface payment details in the app if you're a bank?! So as much as I did and want to love Starling, wouldn't recommend right now. We are not techy but it's Starting for us

Having used two different High Street banks, We were very wary of online banking but Starling is a cut above. We had problems both in branch and online with our previous banks but nothing like this with Starling. There immediate alerts and warnings of upcoming debits are most welcome. Brilliant bank even for the grey £

The app is so user friendly it makes us oldies feel like we’re competent with high tech. This bank is totally in tune with our current banking needs. Well done that woman :-) Reviewed on: 18th February 2021

Simple and easy

Revlutionised the way we manage our day to day spending. Budgeting and putting money aside in pots means you dont get panicked by large but predictable expenses. Highly recommend. Superb. Reviewed on: 18th February 2021

A little birdy told me...

I first read about Starling in a Which newsletter and decided to open an account , principally to save for spends overseas as there are no withdrawal fees charged by Starling. Extremely pleased with the easy process of joining Starling and their quick response to my early questions. The app is super easy to use and the notifications of withdrawals etc is very prompt. I find the setting of savings goals very useful as are a number of other tools in the app.I also enjoy their monthly newsletter which has lots of savvy advice especially these days when times are so tough.
