best for travelers

Very Easy to Manage

Opened an account a few months ago prior to a trip to the U.S.A. Card arrived in 2 days, used for a month in America and apart from a couple of fuel stations we knew what we had spent in GBP immediately and with no foreign transaction fees. Account opening was easy and completed in less than 20 minutes. Very impressed so far and would highly recommend to anyone considering a new bank account. Reviewed on: 21st January 2020

The future of banking is here right now.

In the past to open a new bank account would involve having to go into a bank branch of your choosing, hopefully getting a staff member who actually cared about their job. Then the never ending questions would begin, and this would be for a simple current or savers account. On line applications proved no easier, with pages and pages of questions, with no immediate decision at the end of the process. All of this disappears when opening Starling accounts. After a bit of research on internet banking, one of the reasons for choosing Starling was CEO, Anne Boden‘s track record within the banking industry. On reading that Anne add been pivotal in the creation of the CHAPS payment system, you kind of feel Starling knows a thing or two about internet banking. Opening a Starling account couldn’t be easier, I did the whole process from my iPhone, including uploading picture requested of passport. I am not a fan of face time as I feel my face is best suited for radio but if rolling your face into a camera while saying a statement, means tighter security I am totally on board. The app, notifications and speed of transactions are amazing. Once my wife opened her account we decided to open a joint one to. Which has been made ever simpler than opening the current account as all of the checks have already been completed. If it couldn’t get any better I also have a Euro account, which completes all transactions in Euros from the same debit card as the current account. Money transferred in to the account converts to Euros. So no annoying pocket of coins when you’ve returned from a romantic trip to Paris. Just pay like a local. The way of banking is changing and Starling are setting the standards. Reviewed on: 21st January 2020
