Made me feel I can cope.

From the moment they answer the phone they made me feel calmer. They advised me on how to deal with my creditors. They explained all the different options I had so I could make an informed choice. From despair to hope for the future

I was recommended to approach StepChange after getting into credit card debt and with the prospect of reduced income in retirement. Their debt counsellor discussed the details with me, calmly and unemotionally, assuring me that I was not alone, but that StepChange could agree a payment plan with me, put it to my creditors, and that a plan could be agreed that all parties could accept. All I had to do was to fulfil my side of the bargain and accept that I had already seriously worsened my credit rating.my credit rating. Since then I have reduced the debt by 1200 pounds, and lived within my means, accepting that there are some things I can no longer afford.
