Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

After looking and speaking to a few companies I decided to go with step change as they were most helpful and gave me all the information I needed to feel confident in them helping me find a way out and gave me a few options and let me choose the best one for me. Helpful and very professional.

Helpful and very professional. the initial response can be informative on what you need to hand, ie, income outgoings and debts. From about a 20 to 40 minutes discussion, could come up with a possible solution, at all times you are given choices and advice before any commitment. Try a phone call? Reviewed on: 27th May 2026
