2.5 years ago I was drowning in a sea of debt, credit cards, catalogues, loans, pay day loans Doorstep loans etc, like most in my situation I dreaded the phone ringing or the post arriving but what can you do ? You take out another payday loan just to get through the month don’t you ! One day, after 3 demand letters and 4 difficult phone calls I typed ‘debt help’ into google ......and the rest is history. This July (31st) I will be making my last payment to StepChange then I will be completely debt free. Until you do it you’ll never know how good it feels, that fist pump you give yourself every time you check you monthly statement and another one of your debts is cleared, From my first initial contact with StepChange I started to feel positive about my future, there’s no judgement, no difficult awkward explanations to make, just honest to goodness support & care. I'd tried a couple of times to commit to a plan with Step Change, first time I just wasn't prepared to commit. They did not hassle me or send me a load of marketing emails or messages. So when I felt ready to try again a year later, I wasn't judged or treated differently. They gave me choices and confidence to make a decision guided by their expertise in helping people get out of debt. I am now starting my journey but the relief that I have, knowing that I have a realistic and achievable plan.. Well you just can't really put it into words. It's going to take a few years to clear my debt but I'm confident that I will and at the end of the plan, I will be in the best financial position of my entire adult life. Reviewed on: 30th May 2020

Took away the pressure!

Without Step Change I don't know where I would be right now. Thank you Step Change for taking away the worry, helping me to work out my budget and know exactly where I am. StepChange saved me

I was scared to deal with my debts. I was ashamed of the mess I had gotten myself into. I was able to get support at every stage to set up a Debt Management Plan and they used their trustworthy reputation to convince my creditors this was the way to go.
