Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Amazing support and no judgement

What was a very stressful time, the support was incredible. I didn’t feel like I was being judged, or that I had done something wrong, I felt understood and suppprted. Weight off shoulders

Had a lot of joint debt following a marital separation. StepChange were incredible at helping to understand the full scope of what was outstanding, collate and organise that information into a very easy to understand budget, plan and ultimately begin working to get this under control. This included speaking to the creditors on my behalf to negotiate repayment terms and it's been a huge weight off my shoulders to have this in place, knowing every month my debts are reducing significantly.
