Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Stress relief

It is helping me get back on track

It is helping me get back on track although a very scary journey. You have to be brave to get through all this, which was all new to me and never thought l would be in this situation, being a professional person, but retired. Step Change has been very kind and sensitive to the situation and acted very professionally without judgement, in a matter of fact way, to get things sorted out. Reviewed on: 2nd June 2026

Stepchange was a real lifesaver for me.

Stepchange was a real lifesaver for me. Felt overwhelmed by debt but was able to easily sort a DMP with Stepchange. This has left me with a realistic monthy payment and I will clear my debts in a reasonable timeframe. This would not have happened before. Freedom at last
