Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Get on with your life

Helped me at my lowest point

I had to leave my job of 30 years, to care for my daughter and her baby, after my daughter had a stroke. I then had to go onto UC!!!. which was an experience in itself. I was in despair over my financial situation and Stepchange supported me through this. All staff I have spoken to were amazing and must have been chosen for their amazing people skills., they were always calm and listened whilst I cried, I never felt hurried and they made me feel that there was light at the end of the tunnel . Just the greatest

Always worried and stressed with no sleep chucked into the mix! Step change helped to put this all into perspective while still able to bring the debt down.
