Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Brilliant, non-judgemental support and help

Thanks to stepchange I can now sleep at night, open post without fear, and answer the telephone without worry. Their help has enabled me to be debt free in just 12 months, after having struggled on my own for almost 10 years. My health has improved as well as my emotional and mental health. Life savers

If these people hadn't been around to help me, I don't know how I would have coped. There is always a friendly voice at the end of the phone and advice is always given. The process of setting up my DMP was so easy and best of all, nobody is there to judge you. During the current Coronavirus pandemic I had to reduce payments due to being furloughed but this was dealt with easily and professionally. Thank you Stepchange Reviewed on: 9th July 2020

Feeling normal again

Stepchange has made me feel normal again . It has helped me slowly start to clear my debts without the worry of a debt collector banging on my door and without me having to deal with my creditors directly because they do that for you. The staff at stepchange are understanding and caring . They totally understand that life and finances are always changing. So they are flexible and able to make sure you can afford the monthly payments before it is agreed . I have had the best experience of stepchange so far and I am truly thankful for all they have done to help me live my life without fear . Excellent company

I had £26000 of debt as I had credit cards & took them to the limit after the death of my Mother to made me feel I bought new things on credit cards.After I took them to the limit I contacted Stepchange it was the best thing I did I was put on an affordable plan ,I have paid over £5000 off and can see a light at the end of a long tunnel.Thank you Stepchange. A lifeline for me

Didnt get into debt lightly Ex a alcoholic.... put 2nd charge on house. He got sheltered acc.... i moved back in... i didnt want easy way out... as in bankruptcy.... step change... set it all up....
