Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Saved me from depression and sleepless nights, due to health issues

Step Change saved me and supported me throughout my health issues, due to having breast cancer, 2 parathyroid operations, a stroke and being diagnosed with fibromyalgia a number of years ago. The staff are professional, understanding and very caring. I have been supported by Step Change for over 6years and continue with them in my retirement. Should have contacted sooner

I didn’t miss my monthly payments but struggled every month after paying them. I didn’t want to give in and admit defeat and have the embarrassment of people judging me. I finally gave in and rang step change and they changed everything. I’m not able to manage all my payments and can finally see my balances coming down. My only regret is not ringing sooner. They were so helpful and made me feel at ease. I didn’t feel judged and they were very helpful. If I had called sooner rather than struggle I’d likely be out of debt by now.
