Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Really helpful staff. I didn’t feel as though I was being judged about my debt at all. I have had my plan for a few years now and I am slowly getting things back on track. Took all my stress away!

The first time I contacted Stepchange, I was a mess mentally due to my financial difficulties and dept. Upon speaking to the advisors at Stepchange I was reassured instantly, I was given a lot of information and help in setting a budget plan. I don’t know what I would have done or where I would have been if Stepchange didn’t exist! A huge burden was lifted off my shoulders the minute my dmp started. I have now been with Stepchange for 4 years. All my debts will be paid off by next year.
