Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Saved my life

A few year ago I had debt coming from everywhere more than I was paying out more than I earned and ended up getting credit card after credit card help. Once I got in touch with step change they help so much took a lot pressure off me helping me with my finances and slowly getting my debt down to a manageable level, with out step change helping me I dont think I would be here today as the only way out a few year ago was to try anf take my own life and be free. Absolute life savers

I was a really, really low point in my life. I had gone into our local Yorkshire building society to try and swap our mortgage from the Halifax. Debt after Bereavement

Just before my husband died we had to move out of our property which we had to sell at a loss due to the property market at the time and my husbands illness. We had to purchase necessary items and have modifications done to the bungalow we moved into owned by the local council that they wouldn’t pay for, whilst my husband was alive this was manageable but then when he died I couldn’t keep up with the payments and ended up in debt. I contacted StepChange who where brilliant dealing with my creditors and working out a payment plan. With a little bit of luck this will be clear before Christmas this year and I will be back to normal, I can eventually see light at the end of the tunnel Thanks to StepChange. Helped turn our life around

Stepchange started helping us in 2003 when they were called CCCS.
