Lifesavers

I was struggling with huge debts and owed far more in monthly payments than my wages covered. I was considering bankruptcy after ignoring the issue for a long time. I was guided to contact Stepchange and this was the first time I had hope that my nightmare was over. It felt like a good friend helping me battle the debt collectors and giving me the breathing space I desperately needed. One simple (and more importantly realistic and affordable) payment each month and the rest is all done for you. A yearly appraisal of my budget and if necessary occasional holiday payment pauses. I could finally sleep at night and have the money to pay my bills and still enjoy life. It took me 9 years to clear nearly £20k of debt, but I am now free from it all. I have a really healthy credit score, but more importantly I now manage my debts much more responsibly. I cannot thank this charity enough for saving me from the worst days of my life. The best decision I’ve made!

From crisis to calm

I was in a major financial crisis - I had no idea how I coud get out of the hole I was in . Stepchange calmly and efficiently coached me through giving me breathing space and a structure.
