Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

I was in financial trouble my creditors piling up. They've helped without extra charges i pay one monthly payment and they pay my creditors. Every year you go through your dmp to see if you can still afford. Reviewed on: 8th June 2025

Helping people to take control

I think that this service is excellent at putting customers at ease, they listen and are empathetic to the customers needs. Staff explain the processes very well and do everything that they can to ensure that you understand. They fully supported me and took the stress from me at a time when I really needed support.
