Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Stepchange saved my life. Years of bad choices and a lack of financial expertise led me to Stepchange, and im glad I did. They worked out what I needed to pay and arranged everything for me with my lenders. Still paying but everything is manageable and still able to live my life. Thank you. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

They are good at setting up debt repayment plans.

They are good at setting up debt repayment plans. However not very good at answering questions relating to legal aspects of your debts. There are usually long waits when trying to contact them. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

The Stepchange service has been life saving

The Stepchange service has been life saving, I had got into a real mess financially, I can now sleep without worrying about money. The whole process was fast and easy and best of all, free. Most creditors have stopped all interest. Can recommend Stepchange highly enough. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
